In my initial review of STAR WARS: Galactic Racer, I did not have access to multiplayer mode. I had a few chances to try it out during the game, but it wasn’t a good representation of it, so I didn’t include it in my thoughts. Since its release, there have been some complaints about the multiplayer mode. No custom lobbies, a small party size limit for going together on Multiplayer tour mode, and a few nitpicks here and there.
It sounds like these complaints have reached the ears of the team at Secret Mode and Fuse Games. Their first quality-of-life patch includes the following:
Increased Party Sizes We’re honored that so many players have reached out to us letting us know that they want to share their experience of playing Star Wars: Galactic Racer™ with more of their friends in online multiplayer. We’re excited to announce that Party Sizes in online multiplayer have been increased from 3 to 6 players! We can’t wait to see you challenge more of your friends in multiplayer Tours. Keyboard Layout Presets We know that the lack of key rebinding support in the game is impacting the experience of our mouse & keyboard players, so we’ve added multiple keyboard layout presets to support AZERTY keys and left/right-handed play. This is the first step we want to take towards addressing this feedback. Key rebinding support is on the horizon and will be included in a future update. This quality-of-life patch also includes:
- An increase to the number of credits you receive when you join mid-Tour in online multiplayer from 4,000 to 6,000
- Transition tidy-ups for Spectator camera view
- Removal of the option to ‘Exit the game’ the multiplayer menu to stop accidental quits
- A few party stability fixes
- A fix for the PS5 connection issue
- A fix for the AMD Frame Interpolation game crash issue
I think this is a fantastic first patch and here is hoping we can see some custom lobbies in the future. That said, the multiplayer tour mode is fantastic and mitigates some of my issues with the repetitive nature of the original Campaign tour. Instead of doing four races on one planet, it’s five races on five different planets. Then a sixth race for the gauntlet.
