A blast from the not so distant past, Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball is a highly rated multiplayer game that just had a huge surprise update.
What actually is it? A future-sport first-person shooter where you race around a skate park / dance club and nail each other with dodgeball trick shots. It has support for singleplayer, local multiplayer and online multiplayer with 27 different objective-based game modes or you can make your own. It's a bit of a classic from 2015 and now better than ever.

From the Steam announcement this is all the main changes:
Update Highlights- Multiplayer now runs over Steam Networking. This should allow for extreme low latency setup for LANs because it automatically creates a direct connection among computers on the same network. There's no 'regions' any more, all players are in one big lobby list, and you can browse by ping.
- You can invite friends through Steam Networking and they will automatically join your game. From within a multiplayer match: Menu / Invite Friends.
- Your current lobby is also part of Steam Rich Presence so friends can join your match from there.
- Improved syncing / prediction for bots and dodgeballs so it should feel less laggy.
- Added instant replay system - you get to see how you got KO'd and the final KO of the match is replayed for everybody.
- Improved bot AI - they can identify threats, swerve to become a harder target, and are much more accurate throwing shots especially at flying targets.
- Bots explode into real pieces when they are KO'd. very satisfying.
- Added 'events' to support Steam Timeline, so you can look through your captured video and more easily grab highlights (see https://store.steampowered.com/gamerecording for details) .
- Improved spectator camera, so it doesn't clip through walls and instead finds more interesting angles of gameplay.
- Various performance improvements.
- Improved bot shield shader.
