The release date of Star Wars: Galactic Racer is fast approaching, but the community still has a few lingering questions about the game. At the top of those questions is whether or not Galactic Racer is strictly a multiplayer game or if there are single-player elements added on top of that.

This is, naturally, important for people considering buying the game, as some potential players might not want to race others in an online environment. On the flip side, some fans might value multiplayer over everything else. Today, we’ll be setting the record straight and telling you exactly what kind of content you can expect in Star Wars: Galactic Racer.

Does Star Wars: Galactic Racer Have Any Single-Player Content?

While most of the marketing for Star Wars: Galactic Racer has focused on its multiplayer features, developer Fuse Games has confirmed that the racer will offer single-player content. This isn’t just random bits of a campaign mixed in with the multiplayer; Galactic Racer offers an entire single-player story structured like a roguelike.

If you’re not familiar, a roguelike is a video game subgenre that typically features randomized levels, harsher penalties for dying, and steady upgrades that make your character stronger as the story progresses. It’s unclear exactly how Galactic Racer will fuse roguelike elements with its story, but you can expect it to focus on long stretches of races that test your driving skill.

In short, the bulk of the single-player story revolves around winning races, and winning them earns you credits. You can then spend credits on your driver and vehicles to make them stronger, which allows you to progress the story by accessing and winning more events on different planets and racetracks. You’ll have to win several race types, including time trials, regular races, and elimination bouts.

As for the story itself, the campaign follows the adventures of a racer named Shade, whom you play as. Shade begins at the bottom of the racing world on the planet Jakku, and must work their way up through the circuit to become known throughout the Galactic League. Throughout the story, you’ll visit a variety of different Star Wars planets and gain access to several kinds of vehicles, all of which you’ll also see on the multiplayer side of things.

It’s unclear exactly how long the story of Star Wars: Galactic Racer will take on average. However, you can likely expect at least 10-12 hours of content based on what we’ve seen and heard so far from the developers and preview events. This also doesn’t include any of the multiplayer content, which will add hours and hours of additional gameplay.

We’ll get to see how this entire package of Star Wars: Galactic Racer comes together when the game launches on October 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
