Lex Friedman has brought back the iconic strategy title Strategery, which is now available on iOS for $4.99. Originally launched in 2008, the game has been rebuilt from the ground up for modern iPhones and iPads, with Friedman bringing back the original devs to give the classic a fresh version 4.0 overhaul.
Strategery brings simple rules and plenty of strategic chaos
So, Strategery has already made a strong return, climbing to #2 in the Board category on the App Store. If you’re unfamiliar, the premise is simple: you need to take control of a map filled with vibrant blobs, build up your peg stocks, and attack neighbouring territories using dice rolls. The more pegs you have, the better your odds, but one bad roll can turn your attack into a retreat.
Here, you can take on the computer across four difficulty settings, battle friends online, or pass the phone around for local multiplayer with up to five players. You’ll also find randomly generated maps in four sizes, automatic game saves, and a variety of other gameplay options to make each match feel a little different.
And if you want more chaos, the game also features a special mode with starred blobs that can change how a match plays out when captured. Whether you want a quick couple of minutes or a longer battle for domination, Strategery keeps things focused on simple rules, risky decisions, and the occasional questionable dice roll.
